Team Philosophy: Promote Rowing Knowledge and Advocate for the Sport of Rowing

The establishment of the rowing team aims to inspire a love for rowing among students, promote the sport within universities, and cultivate a spirit of teamwork and initiative among students, enriching their extracurricular lives. As a water sport geared towards college students, rowing serves as an important vehicle for honing team spirit, which is also the core starting point for the formation of the team and the implementation of related activities.

Team Introduction

Tianjin Universitys School of Marine Science and Technology has prioritized rowing as a distinctive educational platform and a key focus for campus sports culture development. Significant time and effort have been invested in resource integration, collaboration, activity planning, and regular team construction, laying a solid foundation for the establishment and growth of rowing on campus.

In 2019, the school hosted a special event centered around rowing, organizing the China-ASEAN University Rowing Event and the 2019 Rowing Ergometer Competition, which further solidified the promotion of rowing within the campus community.

In 2020, the school formed a partnership with the Tianjin Winter and Water Sports Management Center and the Tianjin Rowing Association to officially establish the School of Marine Science and Technology "Support the Sky and Control the Sea" Rowing Team. The core objectives of this initiative are to enhance studentsphysical fitness and to promote the concept of national fitness among the community.

As world universities increasingly recognize the importance of rowing, strengthening exchanges with domestic and international university rowing teams has become one of the team's key tasks. In July 2023, the rowing team participated in the "China-ASEAN University Student Rowing Carnival." Competing alongside around 200 athletes from nine renowned domestic and international universities, including those from Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, the team took part in four categories: the men's eight-person coxed shell 1000-meter straight race, the men's four-person double scull 1000-meter straight race, the women's four-person double scull 1000-meter straight race, and the rowing ergometer competition, achieving outstanding results.

In October 2023, the team participated in the 2023 "Tianjin Student Rowing Competition and the First Intercollegiate Rowing Challenge," achieving outstanding results: they won the championship in the women's four-person double scull category for the 1000-meter race, secured the runner-up position in the women's eight-person coxed shell category for the 1000-meter race, and also took the runner-up spot in the men's four-person double scull category for the 1000-meter race.
