Marine science is a highly comprehensive and interdisciplinary science, involving fundamental research on physical, chemical, biological and geological processes in the ocean and application research on marine natural environment protection, marine resources development and utilization and marine military activities.
Education of marine science highlights the intersection of physical, chemical and biological oceanography, as well as the intersection of oceanography with other disciplines such as humanities and social sciences. At the same time, students are trained with international vision and practical ability through the education process.
Marine science has three main training and application directions: marine dynamics and ecology, operational oceanography, marine chemistry and biology.
Students will master the basic principles and professional knowledge of marine observation, analysis and prediction methods and technologies, and can apply them to marine cognition, mechanism research and public services, understand and analyze the changes of marine dynamics and ecological environment, and are competent for designing of investigation schemes, data analysis, quality evaluation and organizational management in physical, chemical and biological oceanography.
