The First Ocean Knowledge Contest at Tianjin University Has Come to a Successful Conclusion

  In order to promote the construction of a maritime power and drive the modernization of a harmonious relationship between man and nature, Tianjin University is hosting the first Ocean Knowledge Contest, co-sponsored by the School of Marine Science and Technology.

  This competition consists of an online preliminary round and an offline final round. In the online competition phase, more than 300 outstanding participants actively participated, some of whom are the top performers in marine-related fields, while others are enthusiastic lovers of marine knowledge. After the fierce competition in the preliminary round, 18 contestants emerged as the best.



  On March 31, 2024, the final round of the first Ocean Knowledge Contest at Tianjin University was held in the lecture hall on the ground floor of the Science Library at Tianjin University. Tianjin University's Deputy Secretary-General of the Youth League, Xia Li, National Ocean Technology Center researcher Wang Bin, National Ocean Information Center researcher Hongli Fu, Tianjin University's faculty member Xuefeng Zhang , and Luo Xiaofan were invited to attend the event and serve as judges. The final round was conducted in the form of live answering, and consisted of two parts: the compulsory question round and the subjective speech round.



  After the competition officially started, the contestants quickly got into the groove. In the first round of the compulsory questions, the contestants demonstrated their solid foundation of marine knowledge and excellent adaptability. Professor Xuefeng Zhang and Professor Xiaofan Luo provided insightful commentary on the contestants' performances. In the end Longxing Zhu won the championship with an outstanding performance.



  The "Audience Quiz" interactive warming-up segment during the competition further heated up the atmosphere, and audience members actively participated, experiencing the charm of marine knowledge together with the contestants.



  The theme speech segment of the second round competition was even more spectacular. The contestants delivered speeches centered around the theme of protecting the ocean and living in harmony with nature. After the competition, Hongli Fu and Bin Wang highly praised the contestants' performance and offered suggestions for improvement. In the end, three contestants were awarded the Grand Prize, seven were awarded the First Prize, and eight were awarded the Second Prize. The event concluded with a round of applause.

  The Ocean Knowledge Contest this year was always centered around enriching students' campus culture, guiding college students to understand ocean culture, stimulating and enhancing their enthusiasm for learning about ocean knowledge. It also aimed to cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical abilities. Students did not disappoint and expanded their knowledge and broadened their horizons by participating in the competition. They explored the boundless possibilities in the ocean of knowledge.



  The mysteries and joys of knowledge have left a lasting impression on us; the competition and struggle in life have made us never stop.

  In the next step, the outstanding winners will be selected to form the Tianjin University representative team and compete in the national Ocean Knowledge Contest. We look forward to your continued efforts and winning higher honors for our school!
